How to book a private jet
Whether you call it chartering, hiring or renting a private jet, it works the same way. You book the whole aircraft, with its crew, for your own schedule, and you fly from a private terminal with no queues.
- Send your trip. Route, dates, passengers, luggage and anything special on board. One way, return or multi-city.
- Compare aircraft. We ask licensed operators and send you two or three options with timing and the full price.
- Confirm the jet. You see the operator, aircraft and terms before paying anything, and you pay the operator or broker directly.
- Fly. Arrive at the private terminal 15 to 30 minutes before departure.
Private jet rental prices by aircraft
Private jet charter is priced per flight hour for the whole aircraft, from turboprops for short hops to luxury long-range jets and VIP airliners for large groups. These are typical 2026 rates in India and the United States. Final quotes add positioning, airport fees, crew costs and taxes.

Ways to pay less
- Empty legs. When a jet has to reposition without passengers, the operator often sells that flight at a large discount. They suit flexible travellers.
- The right size of aircraft. Choose the smallest cabin that fits your group and luggage comfortably.
- Flexible airports and times. A secondary airport or a different departure hour can avoid positioning costs and peak fees.
- One way or return. For a same-day return, keeping the aircraft waiting is often cheaper than two one-way flights. For longer stays, it usually isn't.

How much does it cost to rent a private jet?
You pay for the whole aircraft, mainly by flight time. In 2026 a light jet costs roughly $3,500–6,000 per flight hour in the US, or ₹2.5–4 lakh in India, and a heavy jet $9,000–14,000. A one-hour hop in a light jet is often $6,000–10,000 all in, while London to New York on a heavy jet is around $90,000–130,000 one way.
Is the price per seat?
No. A charter is priced for the whole aircraft, so the cost per person falls as your group grows. Eight people sharing a midsize jet can pay less each than business class on some routes.
Can I book a single seat on a private jet?
Private jet charter means the whole aircraft is yours. If you only need one or two seats, ask about empty legs, which are repositioning flights sold at a large discount, or shared flights on busy routes, where available.
How far in advance should I book?
A few days is usually enough, and same-day flights are sometimes possible if an aircraft is nearby. For peak dates, such as holidays, major events and ski-season weekends, book as early as you can.
Can a private jet fly across the Atlantic?
Yes. Heavy and ultra-long-range jets such as the Falcon 7X, Global 6000 and Gulfstream G650 fly between Europe and the US East Coast non-stop. Smaller jets can cross with a fuel stop in Iceland, Greenland or Canada.
